Daughters of the King

The Daughters of the King is an Order for women in the Episcopal Church with Chapters in other denominations as well. Daughters are dedicated to prayer and service For Christ's Sake.

The Daughters are currently studying a book by Richard Foster on Prayer.

At St. John’s the Daughters of the King is the Martha and Mary chapter and they meet monthly; check out our monthly calendar page for the next meeting.

The Daughters also celebrate annually what is known as their Common Communion. During this time, Daughters of the King from around the globe will gather on the same day and offer thanks and prayers for a common cause.

Brotherhood of St. Andrew

Let me ask you to consider joining the St. John’s chapter of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew.

The Brotherhood of St. Andrew is a way for men and boys to gather together and explore their faith. It provides a forum to ask questions about the Christian journey, and also a time for men of the parish to get to know one another.

A question for each of us to ask ourselves is, “is my faith relevant to my life, work, and home?” This ministry is geared towards helping us make our faith real for us as men – consider coming and checking us out.

This group meets monthly; check out our calendar page for their next meeting.

Their activities range from organizing our local Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets, to coordinating the Annual United Thank Offering which support a number of grants.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

For several months now this new ministry has been up and running and gaining momentum!  The Prayer Shawl Ministry is one where people knit or crochet a shawl for someone.  While they are making it, they pray for that person.  Once completed, the shawl is blessed and delivered to the person.

So far we have blessed and delivered 4 shawls!  Our most recent shawl was delivered to a woman who has recently moved into the area and she and her husband are expect-ing their first child.

Interested but don’t know how to knit – we’ll teach you.  For more info contact Sue Ellis.
