Mexico Mission Trip Feb 28 - Mar 7 - we raised over $2,000!

They're back!  This years Mexico Mission trip took place from Feb 28 to March 7.  Thanks to all who generously supported this trip.  Below is a summary of what this years trip was like.

You certainly came through for the families who received the houses as well as for the volunteers who went to work.  As you know the volunteers raise their own funds for their transportation etc.  100% of your funds support the project!

This year’s mission group numbered  about 20 people.  The project was to build two casitta's; meaning small house.  The team worked in Valle Hermosa, a small city about 35 miles from Rio Bravo where they stayed.  The people there were wonderfully warm and grateful.

Here are more details on the house.  This house is 12’ X 24’ and are built on a concrete slab. The walls are a concrete block narrower than the block we are used to.  The slab has been poured before the team arrives and the corners are started to guarantee that they will be square. They then build the walls to a height of ten courses of block and put on the roof which is corrugated metal.  The doors are manufactured by us on site. The windows are purchased but not the quality we are used to. The team then stucco the walls both inside and out and paint the interior walls and all trim.  They also give gifts of household items which they think are appropriate when they hold the dedication service, a service of prayer and hymns which marks the completion of the project.
